Have You Seen This? – Shareyourmeal

Make a meal, make a few dollars, maybe even make a new friend

inTerractions family, I’m a bit torn about this one.

Shareyourmeal is a service that allows neighbors to buy and sell leftovers.  Cooked too much tuna casserole?  Sell it to the hungry college student around the corner!  You make a few dollars and avoid wasting food (let’s be real, there is only so much leftover casserole one can swallow) with the added benefit of giving a nice student a home cooked meal.  Win-Win, right?

I am a big proponent of outsourcing household duties, but my first reaction to this story was “Ewwwwwwww!” My biggest concern would be that I don’t know these people.  I don’t know how clean their kitchens are or if they have a roach situation.  I have this fear that the sweet old lady with the delicious lasagna lets her dog lick the spoon.  However, I’m not entirely convinced that any of those factors is more dangerous than having a gang of distracted 16 year olds assemble burgers out of questionable meat at the nearest drive-thru.  I’ve eaten hot pretzels from carts and dirty water hot dogs in NYC.  Delicious? Yes. Sanitary? Not so much.  (If you have ever eaten from a ballpark or stadium concession stand – you have NO room to judge me!)  So, if our digestive tracks can survive those disasters, why not take chance on something yummy made with love?

OK, people let’s hear what you think?  Would you do it?
