Awesome is a State of Mind

TGIF!! After a long and hectic week working in your office, home, or in your own enterprise, who the hell wants one more post about business stuff??  Welcome to Feel Good Friday here at inTerractions.  We promise to send you into the weekend with a smile, a laugh, or maybe a bit of inspiration.

Ok, time for a confession.  Yesterday I was downright CRANKY.  Lack of sleep, low blood sugar, and a house full of family combined into one mother of a melt-down moment.  I found myself standing on a busy street corner, hair quickly frizzing in the rain, trying desperately to hold back the tide of curse words that my parents have no idea that I know.  Even in the height of my hissy fit, deep down I knew how ridiculous it was.  By any measure, my bad days are still pretty damn blessed.

That’s why I sometimes need a reality check like Neil Pasricha’s 1000awesomethings blog.  He finds the awesome in our every day world. It is such a simple concept, but incredibly powerful.  Awesome is everywhere if we just take a moment to recognize it.  In the video clip below Neil shares his heartbreaking and inspiring story.  I encourage you to watch the video, check out his blog, and open your eyes to the wonders around you.  Here are a few that I noticed recently:

  • Waiters and waitresses that proactively remove an item from your bill when they notice that you didn’t eat it.
  • Finding a parking space right in front of the store that you are visiting.
  • Making it indoors just a few minutes before a torrential downpour.
